Tales of a Traveling Political Goon

Six months till the election and this little backwater burg was going to play an important role whether they wanted to or not. I had already decided that this would be one of the key districts, I know it had never been a deciding district, hell in most elections if this district had forgot to turn in its ballots no one would have even taken notice. This election however was going to be different. Voter turnout is going to be at an all time high, and this poor schmuck was going to make sure it happened. Of course he didn’t know yet how much he wanted a high voter turnout but soon he would be all enthusiastic about get out the vote.

It was Wednesday I no longer even remembered the name of the person I was here to influence; not that their name really mattered. I knew everything about them I needed to, ambitious, power hungry, morale corrupt, and always willing to do whatever it takes to turn a profit. Same story different town, but hey it gets the job done. And if he decides to find a backbone I know the weaknesses also, drugs, alcohol, perversion, one way or another they always see it my way before I head of to the next town on my list.

As he ordered his third martini, on my tab of course, I slid a manila envelope across to him. One look at the contents and he was sure to be on board. The look of absolute horror on his face was priceless, no matter how many times this scene replayed itself it was always priceless, people never expect their dirty little secrets to fall into the hands of someone like me.
On cue my phone rings, “yes sir we are on schedule”.
“We are very happy that you have freely decided to come on board for the campaign, now don’t forget the voter turnout will be at an all time high. You have a population that traditionally votes at about 20 percent, you are going to guarantee me at least 80 percent. Is this understood? Oh don’t worry about answering I can see the excitement on your face.”
“Mr. …… I’m sorry I don’t believe I caught your name” he said as I dropped a couple of bills on the table and headed for the door.
“I’ll be back closer to election time to see that the arrangements are satisfactory. Maybe then I’ll introduce myself.’
The door slid shut behind me as I sighed “ amateurs”

At the same time I exited the diner a car pulled arrived at the curb, pointing the wrong direction, I quickly jumped in the passenger’s side and we accelerated.

‘How did the meeting go boss” the driver asked

“Same as they all go; he is probably still sitting there with his jaw on the floor staring at that envelope afraid to let the contents be seen by any of his loving neighbors.” I replied

As we continued down what passed for Main Street in this little town I reached in my briefcase for the next file.

“Well it looks like we are due to stop in Jonesboro this afternoon.”  I stated after skimming over the file. “Put some foot into it lets try to get there early enough to find a  hotel that isn’t run by a toothless wonder”

“GOD I miss civilization!”  I sighed “what about you Max? You ever miss spending your time in posh hotels with fine women and finer whiskey?”

“Well I can’t lie about it, I miss the whiskey” Max stated with a glimmer in his eye, “the problem with big cities is everyone thinks they are more important than they are. Hell only about one percent of the population of this whole planet does anything that actually makes them more valuable than the cattle.”

“WOW, Max, when did you become such the philosopher?” I asked the big man behind the wheel.

Racism????

Racism is a very touchy subject these days, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. The most recent tragedy involves none other than the left wing bad boy Don Imus. People claim to be shocked that Mr. Imus would make the remarks about theRutgers girls. Well since when has stupidity not been a mainstay of the far left faction ofAmerica? The surprise in all this should be that the left attacked one of their own but when you threaten the mainstay of the party I guess it becomes a no holds barred relationship.

The left continues to encourage racism behind its guise of defenders of the minorities. Lets look at the importance of racism to the over all platform of the left. With out racism where would the Democrats turn for votes and followers? If racism was suddenly wiped from the conscious minds of Americans who would really suffer the most? The few right wing radicals who still believe in Jim Crow or the entire left wing democratic regime that relies daily on the very thing they claim to be fighting against. Even Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would have to find a church that would allow them to preach the reminder of racism stays with us on a daily basis, I in no way try to justify the events of this great countries past for we like all have made mistakes, but as Nietzsche said we must remember to forget. The only problem with this is that the left will not let us forget. They constantly bring to the forefront any stupid remark made as complete and utter racism instead of calling them what they are ignorant remarks by the true minority in the country THE IGNORANT. Without racism the left would not exist, the platform of the left has always been to divide the masses by reminding them of the differences. When have you ever heard the liberal left talk about nationalistic pride for if we are nothing else we are AMERICANS first and foremost. I happen to be an American of Irish and German descent, does this make me less of a citizen than someone of English descent? NO it does not nor does anyones heritage pre-judge their level of nationalistic pride. The history of this country is one of immigration, remember the great melting pot? In modern times however we are not a melting pot we are a boiling cauldron waiting to blow our top over differences that for the most part do not effect us in our daily lives when dealing with other Americans ( of any heritage). Let us quick take a side bar and review the definition of racism according to Dictionary.com

1. A belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human           races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually   involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right          to rule others.

2. A policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a                                     doctrine; discrimination.

3. Hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

Now what exactly have the Democrats been preaching? The differences between all Americans based on the color of their skin. How can this be a way to fight racism? It isn’t a way to fight racism, it is a way for the left to constantly remind us of our differences which perpetuates racism instead of fighting it. We as a nation are and have been ready to move beyond this terrible atrocity that afflicted our nation in its youth, however like us as individuals and citizens we suffered thru the mistakes of youth and now face life head on to make the most of all the opportunities that are available to us. The left would have us believe that our great nation judges everyone by the color of their skin, and as of right now that may be true. My question is “why do we still have these views?” is it because of the ignorance of our species or is it because the left refuses to let dead issues lay. I have never once seen a liberal attack the music industry for the indiscretion of certain artist that use language much more offensive than any ever spoken in private amongst good citizens. Why is freedom of speech so important to these people when they use it as a double edged sword. The liberal left is the violator of the Bill Of Rights not the defenders of minorities for if the liberal left would move into the 20th century the idea of a minority would not exist we would all just remember that we are Americans. Citizens of the greatest empire man has ever achieved. While I will succeed the point that the conservative right has its own hang ups mostly economic status these are not the violators of your dignity. We leave that to the left for they have made an art form out of it.

We as a society no longer even consider the language that was traditionally considered racist shocking any more, for you can turn in to any Hip Hop/ R&B hit and hear most of the words that were considered taboo when this country truly had a problem with the morals they followed pertaining to the equal treatment of All Men.
America must learn to celebrate our sameness and throw off the shackles of the liberal left so that we can move forward as a society.

Being An American

Welcome back to Common Sense 101.

A 10 thousand pound S.U.V. goes flying by you as you drive the speed limit down the interstate. As you look at the back side of this gas guzzling road hog an American Flag and Troop support ribbon catch your attention.

Now do you see the hypocricy of this incident? Here is a person who claims by the emblems on his preffered mode of transportation to love this country and be a defender of the rights that the flag and our troops stand for. This person is telling everyone that is passed that they are a true blue American. Do you see the hypocricy yet? Laws in our country are very clear when defining traffic violations and yet these supposed true blue Americans purposely break even the easiest to follow of laws like speed limits and other traffic related infractions. Do you see the hypocricy yet?

On September 11th 2001 Americans were enraged by the blatant disregard for the laws and people of the United States of America by the Muslim extremist who purpotrated the acts of that date. Citizens all across this nation felt as if they had been personally violated by these attacks and became galvanized in their patriotism. Suddenly from out of no where The American Flag was being seen everywhere on the front porches of domiciles across the country from the grandest cities to the smallest townships. Do you see the hypocricy yet?

Ok here we go. Is there anywhere in our system of government or our system of law that allows for the breaking or bending of any law voluntarily? NO! Is there any law that is more important than any other law? NO! Do we as citizens of this nation have the right to choose which laws to obey and which laws are just too large of an invonvience to follow? NO! Do you see the hypocricy yet?

These people with there plastic, made in china, patriotic emblems are not good Americans. These people are little more than easily led automatons. A real American does not just follow the laws of our nation when it is convienent or there is little to no chance of being caught. A real American loves and respects these laws for the virtues that they stand for and obeys them even when there is absolutely no chance of getting caught, because this is the attitude it takes of the citizens of any great nation to maintain that greatness.

Socrates, according to Plato, when sentenced to death by the senate had numerous other citizens offer to help him escape from Athens because they believed he was falsely sentenced. To this Socrates replied that in order to not be a hypocrite he must see the law done as the jury decided for how else can a man be a good and honest man if he does not follow the laws of the nation in which he is a citizen.

PLEASE ALL REAL AMERICANS TAKE WHAT SOCRATES HAS TAUGHT US TO HEART THE LAWS OF THIS GREAT NATION ARE NOT THERE TO SIMPLY INCONVIENCE YOU OR TO MAKE YOU LATE FOR THAT MOVIE YOU THOUGHT STARTED AT 8:30 AND FOUND OUT STARTED AT 8:15. THE LAWS OF THIS THE GREATEST OF ALL NATIONS ARE THERE ALSO AS A BAROMETER OF YOUR GOODNESS.

CAN YOU FOLLOW THEM WHEN ALONE OR ONLY WHEN YOU KNOW YOUARE BEING WATCHED.

Now to be fair I am willing to give the other side of the plastic emblems of support. These people with the “We support our troops” ribbons are perhaps the greatest patriots of all. What better way to show you support the troops who are dying for your freedom than to increase the demand on the precious oil that the middle east would love for you to believe this war is about. Why drive 55 and get 20 miles to the gallon when you can drive 95 and get 8 miles to the gallon. This is one way to ensure our troops have to maintain a presence in the Middle East. So don’t forget to support your troops BUY BIG AND DRIVE FAST

COMMON SENSE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THIS DIFFICULT

My First Blog

Common Sense 101. I could see no other venue that needs as much discussion as the concept of common sense and wisdom. I do freely admit here though that this is not my preffered method of discourse, I enjoy the conversationalist approach to any where it is one person writing what they think with no other input from others; for how are we to know we are working towards the good if we have no barometers of knowledge to guide us.

As all blogs do, I am sure this will become my own little rant forum, this is not what I intend at the present time, but how do i succeed where so many more knowledgeable than I have failed.

Common Sense is something you would suppose all living things have an abundance of( Don’t Start Laughing Yet), yet in this day and age common sense seems to be dwindling among those of us that consider our selves to be at the top of the food chain. This is not going to be a blog pointing out the common errors in judgement that you have come accustomed to when supposedly knowledgeable people discuss this topic. I will not be talking about dumb crooks( well not the common ones atleast). What i will be attempting to do is bring to light the hidden mistakes in common sense that most of us are either ignorant of or prefer not to talk and think about.

Over this past weekend i witnessed a display that for lack of better words made my sick. what is this event you might ask that can so affect a man just by the sheer sight of it, well it is the act of panhandling. while most of you are right now thinking about your typical panhandler. A person of some sanitary questions that is doing nothing more than standing or sitting about asking people to spare some change so as they might eat or perhaps even return home that night with something to help provide for a desolate family. Well these panhandlers are not the ones I am, atleast this time, sickened by. The act I viewed was three high school age students standing on a street corner begging for money for their favorite charity.

Oh wait I know what you are all thinking well that is common place and your right perhaps as common as the scenerio listed above. Does this make it right though? Now before you start to think even less about me than most people already do let me enlighten you to my view points before you judge me for my harshness.

I am a firm supporter of charitable work. This is where i run into a moral and ethical conflict with the events, while I am a supporter of charitable work, I, in no way condone charitable panhandling. The difference is just a simple matter of common sense. Work is exactly that, Work, not standing on a street corner with your hand or bucket or boot or what ever tool you wish to use to collect your unearned monies thrust into the windows of vehicles caught at a traffic light.

Let us look at the lessons this teaches our youths by involving them in these kind of actions. These young adults who are living their lives in a country that is overcome with welfare and large amounts of government support for individuals not willing to work for themselves. This is the lesson i most fear that is being implied on our future, IT IS EASIER TO BEG FOR MONEY THAN IT IS TO EARN IT.  This is an unnacceptable lesson for any one of any age to learn at any time (sorry to all the liberals out there who got the government to buy them a pc so they could read blogs). This is where I run into difficulty in writing a blog, due to the fact that no discourse can be advanced without reaching levels of agreement thru out the project. So I am going to assume that those of you who are still reading are in atleast partial aggreement with me.

We shall stay the course on this path and discuss the virtue of panhandling, most people would agree that for many a good reason the act of panhandling is either illegal or atleast highly frowned upon in most cities and towns. This my friends is due to the ideals that this country was founded upon. The American Dream ( for a man willing to work the opportunties in this country are boundless). However these same governmental institutions that have made panhandling illegal also have written loopholes in to allow certain groups to be able to recieve permits to legitimize this act. How can this be possible?
